Based on the Banerjee and Duflo article, what are some examples of how RCTs have made a profound impact on development economics?

The field of education has benefited a lot from the recent popularity of field experiments.
One critical paper in this area is Banerjee, La Ferrara, and Orozco-Olvera (2019) who uses mass media to educate the population and improve health practices. They produce the program MTV Shuga which -in principle- was a soap opera. Nevertheless, it features topics related to sexual health and STD prevention. They do not only found improvement in knowledge and attitudes. The authors also report a lower STD rate among treated women and higher demand for HIV testing.

RCTs have been used a lot in health contexts - aiming to increase the intake of folic acid for pregnant women in developing countries to de-worming interventions.
